Before baby starts solids…
From 0 – 6 months old, YES. We want a probiotic (I like this one) and we want baby’s gut to be dominated by mostly one group of bacteria that thrives in healthy breastfed babies.
*If baby is formula fed, add a GOS or HMO prebiotic.
We’ll call them our Bifido Baddies (they’re really goodies š) and they’re ultra protective to baby gut barrier and immune training.
After solids…
Starting solids kicks off the biggest microbial shift of your baby’s entire life. Bifidobacteria take a step back. And new bacteria move in.
The gut is meant to grow up. Right on schedule.

But sometimes the gut stays “younger” than it should. The shift stalls. And that’s the part researchers are paying attention to.
š Because this is associated with the development of eczema and allergies.
In other words, we want to nourish a diverse gut microbiome when baby starts solids at around 6 months old.
